On Sunday the 25th of June our team conquered the 10 K Tough Mudder challenge at Belvoir Castle raising funds for Zinthiya Trust, our charity of the year.
Zinthiya Trust support vulnerable women and families suffering from domestic abuse, honour violence, FGM and poverty by providing a place to stay, financial support, advice and training.
The money Glenfield Electrical have raised for the trust helps fund the ongoing support Zinthiya Trust provide.
Contracts manager Amy, marketing manager Joe and apprentice Louie took on 25+ obstacles in 29ºC covering 10 KM.
They started off with a brisk jog into the forest before tackling the first obstacles, hay bales. It ramped up after with 8ft walls, muddy trenches and monkey bars.
The first hugely challenging obstacle, Block Ness Monster required pushing each other and fellow runners onto 500 lbs and rotating them in neck-high muddy water.
From there, icy water, barbed wire, underwater cages, mud-mounds, halfpipes, netting and a hill run were further obstacles our team tackled.
Other challenges included a creek, barbed wire, a lake, ‘Mudderhorn’ a mountain of netting before finally completing the course by running through electrified strips – aptly named electroshock therapy – “Worse than any shock I’ve had at work” according to Louie.
As of the 28th of June, we’ve raised over £900 for the trust, thank you to everybody who has donated so far!
