Introduction
What A Goal is an indoor sports facility, restaurant, bar, gym & children’s play area in north Leicester. Sat amongst an industrial estate, the site was formerly a trampoline park spread across multiple buildings before Scope Group were tasked with transforming the space occupied by the units. Scope group approached us in 2021 to tender for the electrical works required on the project, what followed was our largest contract yet – the successful delivery of the most exciting sports facility open to the public in Leicestershire.

The Story of What A Goal
On Lewisher Road in Hamilton, Leicester, The What A Goal premises were previously used as a trampoline park. Kavita, Jay & Mehul Patel the family behind Leicester based snack giant Cofresh had the vision to create an all-encompassing leisure facility that children and adults could both enjoy.
The project was to be a huge undertaking at 68,000 sq. ft in size and split across the football pitch, bar, restaurant, kitchen, cricket, gym, changing facilities and the children’s play area. Such a large project required a phased approach, and we began work in October 2021 to strip out the existing electrics.
Working alongside the other contractors on the project the site soon began to take shape, with the Rascal Ranch play area opening in 2021. Work continued on the rest of the site with a summer 2022 opening date deadline.
The pitches, gym and changing areas were the next milestones completed, early in 2022. Leaving What A Shot – the bar, restaurant and director’s lounge as the remaining areas to be completed. Our team wrapped up work on the project in June, ready for the soft launch in July.
The Challenge
The What A Goal project is the largest project we’ve worked on to date which provided unique challenges. One of our contract managers Paul expertly oversaw the job, organising our labour, installation, invoicing and procurement.
